The Conference of the International Society for Music Information Retrieval is the world’s leading research forum for processing, searching, organizing and accessing music-related data. The ISMIR Conference provides a meeting place with the goal of fostering the exchange of ideas across disciplines by bringing together researchers, developers, educators, librarians, students, and professional users.

ISMIR 2018

The 19th edition of ISMIR took place in Paris during September 23—27, and the TROMPA project was present throughout the conference with the participation of several of our members. Many of us have been part of the program committees for years, but in this 19th edition Cynthia Liem was unconference co-chair, and Emilia Gómez was program co-chair as well. Emilia is also the current president of the ISMIR society.

Julián Urbano co-presented a tutorial on the statistical analysis of dataset-driven results in MIR research. The goal of the tutorial was to help researchers and developers get a better understanding of how related statistical methods work, providing better insight into analysis, guidelines, and larger issues of evaluation.  Cynthia Liem was a project guide at the WiMIR workshop to promote the role of women in the MIR field. At the satellite Conference on Digital Libraries for Musicology, Cynthia also presented a paper exploring interdisciplinary opportunities and data-related challenges of processing music-related content in newspapers.

ISMIR 2019

The 20th edition of ISMIR will take place in Delft in early November, 2019. For this special occasion, both Cynthia Liem and Emilia Gómez with be general chairs of the conference, and Julián Urbano will be co-chair of the scientific program.
