Instrumental players

We will offer ways for instrumentalists to explore archives of scores and
corresponding performances in multimodal ways beyond directed text search, learn about various
performance interpretations, estimate how challenging a new repertoire piece will be to learn, and
inform and improve individual performance strategies based on existing corpora of available
recordings. The audience considered for requirements and validation will consist of professionals,
students and amateurs, recruited by MDW. Through its existing infrastructure connecting to e.g. the
IMSLP and YouTube, PN will reach out to player audiences at scale. The ‘playability’ measures for
certain repertories developed by GOLD (within the Learn To Play project) will be enhanced and used
to help non-expert players select music suitable for their level of skill.

Instrumental players

Many instrumental players actively make use of online music resources, in order to find and learn new repertoire. In TROMPA, we will work on ways to support this process, e.g. by offering better insight into various performances of the same piece, by researching automatic difficulty assessment of unknown pieces, and by devising rehearsal monitoring and supporting tools.
